The demo is limited in that it does not allow creation of a database from sub-folders. So it would have to go through each folder in my pictures to get them in the database.

Yes I found that out too. So for now I'll stick with Picasa2. My main objective is to create web pages, selecting from a large number of photos and Picasa has some good tools for that. Particularly if one downloads some more advanced templates made available by users.
