I think that the Metadata editor should work as follows:
a) If one file is selected, then the content of *all* the metadata fields should be saved to the file when the "Save" button is clicked.
b) If more than one file is selected, then the content of all *non-blank* fields should *be added* to the files when the "Save" button is clicked.
This is so that selected metadata vaules can be applied to groups of files, without destroying the content of other metadata fields in these files. This would allow me, for example, to add location or keyword data to files, without destroying caption and keyword info that may already exist.
As I understand it, today the Metadata editor will replace "all* fields in selected files - thus destroying data that I may want to keep (so I can't just add to, or overwrite selected fields only).
Sorry to keep banging on about metadata, but it's something that I think is important. _________________ Geoff Coupe |

Well, it's almost fixed. It works for any single value field, but not for multi-value fields, e.g. Keywords. Here, selecting a group of files, then adding a value into the keyword field in the Metadata editor will overwrite the previous values with the new value - it's not an additive operation. _________________ Geoff Coupe |
