Say you have a category called flowers and in it there is a category called red, one called blue, and one called yellow.

Could you select the "flowers" category and temoprarily not show one of the sub categories, like "Blue"?

Yes,
you can do this by selecting the Flowers category (left click on it) and exlude the Blue category (to do this, you just have to right-click on the Blue category and select 'Hide <Blue> from the current set')

Attention ! if 'Blue' is not the last category of the tree (if it has subcategories such as 'Dark Blue', 'Pale Blue' ...) the result is not working at all ! (I hope it would be corrected in the v3.0...)

As I went to bed I realised my example was not good enough, that somebody would suggest what you just did (I also suspect you can't Not arguments)

But let me try to put it another way then:

You have this category

Flowers
-->red
-->blue
-->yellow

And you have another category called:
Inside

Now, many of the flowers, who are inside, have the inside category on them.
If I select the flowers category I get all flowers, those who have the inside category and those who don't.

So here is the question, can I select the flowers category and NOT show those who are also in the inside category?

I haven't selected the inside category, but since some of the flowers have the keyword when you show all of the flowers you will show the ones with this category as well.

it is working exactely the same way as the first example

selecting the 'flower' category would display only the photos that have the tag 'flowers'

Hiding the 'inside' category would hide all the photos that have the tag 'inside'

so as a result you would have all photos that have the tag 'flowers' but NOT the tag 'inside'

as I sais this morning it only works if the 'inside' category has no sub categories (otherwise you should manually hide all the sub categories of the category 'inside')

I hope it is more clear now.
