I would really, really like to be able to assign categories by simply typing in category names in a comma-delimited list into a single text field, rather than having to search through a graphical treeview. This "tag" style interface would be consistent with many other implementations, including del.icio.us and flickr. Autocomplete of tags as they are typed would be an extra plus, but certainly not necessary.
