|
|
Hello,
the rating filter system is not very useful for me. I describe a typical find-pictures-workflow.
A guest comes and I want to show him my last holiday pics. So I select category 'holidays', category 'italy'. Going to the right, select 'locate by date' 2005. Now there a the pics.
But I want to present only the 50 pics with rating greater than 3, not all 800 pictures (too boring for dear guest ).
So the rating-filter should be additionally selectable.

well, you can do it like that :
- select your categorie(s),
- click the search button
- select Rating in the 'look in' list
- specify the rating you want (for example More than 3 stars)
- check the 'Only on selected categories' checkbox
here it is !
cheers

Yes, I know this way. But I think the rating filter should be a more 'temporary global' setting, like 'hide/unhide' (which is a very useful feature and one of the buy-it-criteria; I will never show all people the bikini-pics of my girl-friend).
In my example, my guest is impressed by the good pictures and now wants to view the holiday pics from 2004. Then I don't want to do a new search, but only click at '2004'. Or he wants to view the 'france' pics. So I only want to change the country category.
The search should be for complicated filtering.
I hope, I could explain what I mean.

Interesting idea - it took me a little while to get used to the fact that the ratings, date imported, etc are not filters but sort orders. Perhaps, some kind of option in the program to change the behaviour of each could be used. For me, ordering by rating is fine (and I'd probably want to keep the existing behaviour tbh).
Lets sort out the dng support though!! _________________ ==================

Yes, that's the point. filter <-> sort order . In other programs (acdsee, photoshop album, photoshop bridge) the rating is implemented as a filter.
That is more useful.
