Hi,
is it possible to copy a complete set of defined categories from one album into another one?
Thanks,

No.
Do you mean selected categories with attached images? |

Hi,
and thanks for such a prompt response, even though it was "no".
It's pity it's not possible. I meant really the categories copy. Let's suppose I have an album, where I define a whole structure of various categories, and then I would like to open another album, and use the same categories structure within the new one as well. It would be nice to have an option to kind of "import" the categories defined in another album (including the hierarchy, icons etc.)
I wondered if perhaps a simple copy of the "system" files used for the categories would be copied, and overwritten in the new album files. If one could see which files these exactly are...
Thanks again,

Hi all,
I would also be interested in copying the category hierarchy
from one computer to another (the hint to copy the images
with the categories in the IPTC-keywords and creating the
categories from the IPTC keywords is not really satisfying,
because the structure has to be rebuild).
May be the export of all categories in to a certain file format
that can be imported again would fit this which.
Should I create a separated posting in the
"Feature request & suggestions" area. The other
idea is that one of the administrators moves this
thread.
Bye

You can copy the database (album) to a temporary location. Rename it. Copy it back to Picajet. And then simply delete all the images. Now you have a blank database (album) ready to use. |

Sorry for the delay in responding but I just upgraded to FX.
I imported a picture to the first ablum and assigned all categories to the picture. Then save the IPTC. Import the same picture to the new database and be sure the check box for make categories from ITCP is checked. The categories should appear - it did for me.
Good luck. |
