Huge size of print spool files

When I print a mutliple pictures at the same time the spool file created is massive and takes ages to print.

E.g. printing nine (3x3) JJPEGS (which total about 350KB for the jpeg files) creates a spool file over 200MB in size!

Doing the same thing from PaintShop Pro creates a spool file about 2MB in size, and print far quicker.

Is this normal?

Forgot to add that I am using v2.4 build 407 of PicaJet.
