Why do some photos have a line through them from corner to the opposite corner... what does that signify?

PicaJet uses hardware acceleration. This is issue of standard Microsoft video driver, so you need to install latest driver of your videocard from videochip vendor's site.

I do have the newest drivers.
The lines are only on about 20% of the thumbs
No big deal I guess

No need screenshot. I've see problem from another your topic. You can disable shadow for thumbnails and this line will disappear.
Tools > Options > Thumbnails > Use shadow.
